It is today announced that the leading Danish law firm, LETT will integrate with the global law firm DLA Piper by the end of May 2017. This means that DLA Piper will become the largest law firm in the Nordic Region, with over 600 employees, and the first global law firm with a comprehensive presence in the Nordic Region.

DLA Piper is currently the largest global firm in Sweden and with the incorporation of LETT it will also become the largest firm in the Nordic region with over 370 lawyers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Following the integration DLA Piper will also be the leading M&A firm in the Nordic region, with most handled transactions in 2016 according to MergerMarket.

“It is becoming increasingly important for global companies to have a presence in the Nordic region. We can now meet client requirements for a common process, coordinated approach and one contact for the entire region. We will also have greater opportunities to attract the best expertise and to expand our range of services”, says Gustaf Reuterskiöld, Country Managing Partner of DLA Piper Sweden.

DLA Piper’s strategy is to provide a complete portfolio of commercial law advice and to have a comprehensive presence in the most important business regions worldwide. The Swedish and Finnish offices formally joined DLA Piper on 1 February 2016. Through the integration with LETT, the Nordic offering is now complete.

Following the integration, the firm will have offices in Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Aarhus with a total of 370 lawyers. This will enhance the overall offering of commercial law advice and additional extensive experience will be gained in sectors such as financial services, technology, energy, real estate as well as infrastructure and construction. The Nordic region will be headed by the Nordic Board and will become part of DLA Piper’s EMEA Group.

Simon Levine, Global Co-CEO at DLA Piper, said: "A key part of our strategy is to operate in all the major world economies and other important markets where our clients are based or do business. Together, the Nordic countries rank as a G20 economic entity and the region is home to some major international corporates. Many of our existing clients do business in the Nordics and by extending our presence in Denmark, we will now be able to offer them an unparalleled capability in the region and access to legal services which can meet their needs domestically, regionally and globally."
