Welcome to the latest edition of Pensions Round-Up which provides an overview of developments in pension legislation, case law and regulatory guidance.
In this edition we look at key developments from April 2017 including the following.
The Pensions Regulator: the publication of the Regulator's latest Corporate Plan in which it sets out eight priorities; a consultation published by the FCA about a new factsheet from the FCA and the Regulator about the help that employers and trustees can provide on financial matters without being subject to regulation; and updates to the Regulator's detailed guidance on automatic enrolment.
Consultations and legislation: a consultation about amendments to the employer debt legislation; the Finance Act 2017 and the Pension Schemes Act 2017 receiving Royal Assent; a consultation on draft regulations to introduce a cap on early exit charges and extend the ban on member-borne commission; and guidance from HMRC about the pension advice allowance.
HMRC: the publication of HMRC's latest pension schemes newsletter; updates to HMRC's Pensions Tax Manual; statistics about flexible payments; and forms to use when complying with new information requirements that apply when certain lump sum death benefits are paid to a trustee.
Other news: an announcement by the PPF that it is raising a Fraud Compensation Levy in 2017/18; and the FCA's Business Plan for 2017/18 which includes information about its key planned activities for the pensions and retirement income sector.
