About

Jamie O’Neill is a commercial lawyer, advising on a range of issues relating to technology, outsourcing, intellectual property, and other commercial contract matters.

Jamie supports clients in a range of sectors, including financial services, technology, and hospitality and leisure, and regularly advises on projects which involve working across a number of jurisdictions.

He is particularly experienced in working alongside key legal, procurement and commercial stakeholders in international businesses, supporting projects with strategic advice based on his legal, regulatory and commercial knowledge to find consensus.

Jamie also has direct experience of working with in-house legal teams and key business functions, having undertaken secondments with Heineken, The Royal Bank of Scotland/NatWest, Scottish Power and Skyscanner.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising a UK bank on the outsourcing of its "change the bank" function - a systemic transformation of the bank's traditional operating model, at an estimated total value of GBP750 million.
  • Acting for a governmental defence department on the procurement of strategic recruitment services, in a project worth an estimated GBP1.4 billion over 10 years.
  • Advising a global customer experience company on a number of key major sourcing transactions, including its first ever outsourcing of customer catering facilities at its theme parks in the UK and US and the outsourcing of guest photography services across its attractions in London.
  • Advising a global bank on the commercial remodelling of its mainframe technology agreement, in a deal worth in excess of GBP500 million and requiring advice across the UK, US and Hong Kong.
  • Advising a global entertainments company on the remodelling of its third party ticket reselling arrangements across its corporate trade business in EMEA, taking into account key commercial and regulatory drivers across the various jurisdictions involved.
  • Advising an Irish headquartered global insurance and reinsurance company on the outsourcing of its asset management platform, with total assets under management of circa €90 billion, to a US software vendor.
  • Advising a global distiller and distributor of premium spirits on the first generation outsourcing of its supply chain management function.
  • Acting for an Indian multinational IT services and consultancy company on a global business process outsourcing worth in excess of USD1 billion.
  • Acting for a public body on the procurement of strategic consultancy services, involving parallel negotiations with a number of global management consultancy firms and representatives from the Big Four.
  • Advising a Belgian provider of plumbing and drainage systems on the procurement of an enterprise resource planning platform from a global blue-chip provider.
  • Acting for Hain Celestial on the sale of Tilda, a premium Basmati and speciality rice brand, to Ebro Foods S.A. for USD345 million, as part of a cross-practice DLA Piper deal team.
  • Acting for a number of major financial services organisations on the outsourcing of their ATM operations and services in both the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
  • Advising a UK private equity firm on various IP rights in market-leading software allowing real-time polling and moderated discussion platform for AGMs and other statutory meetings.
