Lou joined the International Board of DLA Piper in March 2021. He is Chair of the Risk Committee and a member of the Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee and Global Board.

Lou started his career at Ernst & Young Canada (EY), firstly in their Assurance practice and then in their Tax business. He became a partner in 1991 and then became Chairman and CEO of the Canadian firm in 2004. In 2010 he was appointed as the inaugural Managing Partner of Asia Pacific, bringing together 22 countries for the first time. In 2013 Lou relocated to London to become Global Managing Partner – Business Enablement, where he was responsible for EY's global functions ensuring strategic alignment with business purpose. In this role Lou was also a member of the Global Executive, EY's highest level management body. Lou retired from EY in 2020.

Lou brings wide ranging experience encompassing finance, corporate development, risk management, legal, procurement, shared services and technology.

Lou currently holds a non-executive appointment at the following company:
Bell Canada (since November 2020) – Corporate Director, Chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Risk & Pension Committee.

Lou has previously served on the board of both the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation (2005-2010) and Pathways to Education (2008-2010) where he initiated Ernst & Young's Canada's role as Pathway's National Volunteer Partner.
