Roya has experience in a broad range of contentious aspects of insolvency and restructuring matters. Roya has substantial experience in complex and cross-border insolvencies, having worked on a number of high profile cases.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising PwC as the administrators of Lehman Brothers Limited on the highly complex legal issues arising out of Lehman estates in the Waterfall I and Waterfall II applications, in case of the latter from first instance to the Supreme Court
  • Advising Alvarez & Marsal as the liquidators of Joannou & Paraskevaides (Overseas) Limited in relation to a large-scale multi-jurisdictional investigation into the circumstances and transaction which have left the creditors of the company with approximately $2bn of exposure following the sudden collapse of the largest construction and infrastructure business operating in Europe and the Middle East
  • Advising the insolvency administrator of a German listed company on an application in the English High Court to contest the court's jurisdiction to deal with an application filed by a former director of the company in his English bankruptcy for confirmation of his release from debts owed to the company
