Darren Walsh practices in the energy sector, focusing on low carbon energy generation projects.

Darren acts for developers, ESCOs, funders and technology companies in the energy sector. He has advised on renewable schemes such as solar PV schemes, Good Quality CHP and Carbon Energy Fund schemes, as well as energy efficiency and long-term energy service arrangements. He has advised on numerous biomass fuel supply arrangements, fuel processing services and the development of a large number of new biomass energy generation facilities in the UK. Darren is also advising on energy from waste schemes, including modular anaerobic digestion technologies and associated CHP-driven energy and heat services.

Darren has 19 years' experience in the domestic and international nuclear and energy sectors. He was principal counsel to BNFL's overseas business, focusing on: spent fuel reprocessing contracts, waste management and return contracts, and international transportation of nuclear materials to and from Europe and Japan. He has worked in all areas of the nuclear fuel cycle, from uranium enrichment to reactor management and operations, fuel fabrication, waste management and decommissioning. Darren has advised on complex design, build, commissioning and decommissioning projects in the UK, Europe and the Far East.

Darren was in-house counsel to BNFL, head of legal to British Nuclear Group, legal director of BNG Project Services and legal director of VT Nuclear Services from the mid 1990's until joining the Punj Lloyd Group as Vice President - Legal in 2008. Darren joined DLA Piper in September 2010.

Darren leads the Energy Team in the North West of England.
