DLA PIPER AGAIN #1 IN FRANCHISE LAW

Thanks to the recommendations of our clients and colleagues, we are proud to announce four important honors our Franchise and Distribution practice has received.

CHAMBERS GLOBAL: DLA PIPER IS "THE GLOBAL LEADER IN FRANCHISE LAW"

Chambers & Partners has once again ranked DLA Piper in Tier One in Franchise Law. Chambers Global 2017 calls DLA Pipers Franchise team the "the global leader in franchise law."

Chambers further states that DLA is "[n]oted for its extensive international reach, combined with in-depth franchising expertise located in many jurisdictions" and that DLA has "a long history of assisting with major international franchise arrangements, and maintains a large stable of impressive, blue-chip clients." Only DLA Piper is ranked in Chambers' Band 1 worldwide for its franchise work.

In its comments, Chambers quotes clients who call our lawyers "a strong team," and say of the firm that we are "a superb firm for both US and international franchising work."

FRANCHISE LAW FIRM OF THE YEAR – 13 YEARS IN A ROW

Who's Who Legal has named DLA Piper's Franchise and Distribution group the Franchise Law Firm of the Year for the 13th consecutive year.

The winners were announced at a black tie awards ceremony at Plaisterer's Hall in London on May 15.

Rupert Wilson, editor of Who's Who Legal, said, "DLA Piper is one of few firms to have won a practice area award every year since its inception, and its streak continues this year. The quality, breadth and depth of its expertise are unrivalled, and we are delighted to recognise the firm once more in this category."

A strategic research partner of the ABA Section of International Law, Who's Who Legal compiles its lists based on the findings of an independent six-month research process that encompasses feedback from private practitioners, clients and other experts.

PHILIP ZEIDMAN RECEIVES WHO'S WHO LEGAL LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Franchise partner Philip Zeidman has received Who's Who Legal's Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his vast contributions to the practice of franchise law and consistently outstanding performance in the publication’s annual rankings.

For nine consecutive years, Zeidman was named Global Franchise Lawyer of the Year by Who's Who Legal, which surveys private attorneys and corporate counsel to rank lawyers in specific disciplines. He received more votes from clients and peers than any other individual attorney worldwide, according to the publication, and statements from those interviewed referred to him as "immensely talented," "one of the best commercial franchise lawyers ever" and "without doubt, the number one franchise practitioner in the world."

Zeidman, who devotes his practice to domestic and international distribution, licensing and franchising law, served as general counsel to the International Franchise Association throughout his career, was the first chairman of the American Bar Association Antitrust Law Section's Distribution and Franchising Committee and was the chairman of the International Bar Association's Franchising Committee.
