The European Commission (EC) has presented its White Paper on Artificial Intelligence (AI), a much-anticipated policy document setting out concrete measures and proposed regulations for the development and use of AI applications.

The EC’s White Paper on AI has initiated a process that could potentially establish the world's first far-reaching regulatory framework for AI, similar to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) law in 2016 on data protection and privacy that prompted subsequent legislation in the United States and other countries.
