DLA Piper names Tara Lee managing partner of the Reston office

DLA Piper announced today that Tara M. Lee, co-chair of DLA Piper's global Transnational Litigation practice, has been named managing partner of the firm's Northern Virginia office located in Reston. She succeeds Dale Lazar, who will continue to focus on representing clients in intellectual property matters.

In her new role, Lee will guide the office’s strategic growth and general management. Building upon Lazar’s achievements for the office, Lee will focus her efforts building on the Reston office’s reputation for excellence and helping the office’s existing clients capitalize on the firm’s global reach.

In September, DLA Piper relocated its Northern Virginia office to the highly desirable Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia, in an effort to enhance the firm’s presence in the region.

“DLA Piper has long had a strong footprint in Northern Virginia’s tech and defense sectors, and that will continue to evolve.  The global platform that the firm has developed in the last five years now particularly enables us to further deepen the services we offer our clients,” said Lee. “Working closely with clients who have a Northern Virginia presence to fully harness this unique platform and its truly global reach to their benefit remains a chief priority for DLA Piper.”

Lee, a member of DLA Piper’s Litigation and White Collar, Corporate Crime and Investigations practice groups, is a leading trial and appellate lawyer, representing a broad range of clients in cases involving tort and contract disputes, white collar and regulatory defense, and government contracts litigation. She has received numerous accolades recognizing her skills as a trial advocate.

She is also a member of DLA Piper’s Africa Steering Group, vice chair of the ABA's Battle Space and Contingency Procurements Subcommittee, and a member of the ABA's Standing Committee on Law and National Security.

Lee received a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy, and a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.

DLA Piper has been an integral part of Northern Virginia's Dulles Corridor since 2001, offering a wide range of services to meet clients' legal and business needs. The office serves a variety of global and local clients, from leading multinational corporations to emerging companies with cutting-edge technologies. The extensive experience of its lawyers, coupled with the firm's international reach, positions DLA Piper as one of only a handful of law firms in the Northern Virginia business corridor that can represent clients worldwide. The 20 lawyers in DLA Piper's Northern Virginia office focus on Corporate and Securities (including Venture Capital and Emerging Companies), Distribution and Franchise, Intellectual Property and Technology, Government Contracts and Controversies, and Transnational Litigation.
