DLA Piper's WIN (What In House Lawyers Need) programme has been awarded the Client Management Innovation Award at the 2017 Legal Week Innovation Awards in a ceremony held at The Brewery in London.
DLA Piper won the award for its WIN initiative, a comprehensive training programme for in-house lawyers. WIN – which operates in 28 cities globally – comprises events, tools, forums and networking opportunities designed to develop and improve the technical, personal and commercial skills needed to work in-house. One judge described it as “easily the best example of how law firms can engage with their clients”.
The awards celebrate outstanding achievement within the profession. By recognising exceptional achievements and best practice, they underline the crucial role in promoting innovation played by lawyers working in tandem with colleagues in other disciplines such as marketing, business development, finance, IT, project management, operations, PR and recruitment.
"We are exceptionally proud of creating this market-leading programme, which already has over 6,000 members and continues to grow in scope as we launch in more cities globally and develop more tailored support based on feedback from our clients. Our Future Legal Leaders programme is particularly noteworthy, with soft skills training provided to over 2,000 lawyers last year in our London office alone, an outstanding achievement for a law firm," said Richard Norman, lead partner on WIN.
