Margo Tank joins DLA Piper's Intellectual Property and Technology practice in Washington, DC

DLA Piper announced today that Margo Tank has joined the firm's Intellectual Property and Technology practice as a partner in the Washington, DC, office.

Tank, who will be in the Technology, Data and Commercial subgroup of the firm's IPT practice, advises financial services, commercial enterprises and technology companies on regulatory compliance matters related to the use of electronic signatures and records to enable digital transactions to be offered online and via mobile devices.

"The demand for legal services focused on digital transactions has risen exponentially and will only continue to grow," said Frank Ryan, US chair of DLA Piper's IPT practice. "Margo's vast experience in this area will allow us to better address client demand for legal, regulatory, operational and technical solutions to the risks posed by these transactions, which have become ubiquitous."

In her practice, Tank also advises businesses on laws enabling money transmission and virtual currencies, emerging payment mechanisms, including prepaid cards, and stored value and other asset value transfers utilizing blockchain technology.

"We're thrilled to welcome Margo to the Washington, DC, office, where she will be a valuable addition to our intellectual property team," said Jeff Lehrer, managing partner of the Washington, DC, office. "Her experience in the financial and FinTech sectors will increase our capabilities in those areas and allow us to offer clients business solutions that combine legal and consulting services."

Tank, who was previously a partner at Buckley Sandler LLP and Goodwin Procter LLP, and served as counsel to the US House of Representatives Banking Committee for Chairman James Leach, received her J.D. from Drake University Law School and her B.A. from the University of Vermont.
