DLA Piper announced today that Joshua M. Samek has joined the firm's Corporate practice as a partner in Miami.

Samek, who will serve as co-chair of the firm's Miami Corporate practice, focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings, financing transactions and general corporate and securities matters, with a particular emphasis on the life sciences, healthcare and financial technology sectors. He maintains a nationwide practice representing private equity funds and their portfolio companies and regularly counsels public company boards of directors and executive management on US Securities and Exchange Commission reporting and corporate governance matters.

"Josh's extensive experience representing companies in both the public and private sectors will enhance our ability to provide sophisticated counsel in a wide range of M&A and private equity matters," said Joe Alexander, co-chair of the firm's global Corporate and Private Equity practices and Southeast US managing partner. "His public company and securities practice in particular complements the focus of our Corporate team in Miami and will be a welcome addition."

"DLA Piper's global platform and breadth of knowledge across a number of sectors will be immensely beneficial to Josh's clients," said Joshua Kaye, managing partner of the firm's Miami office. "We are pleased to welcome him to the firm."

Samek is the latest partner to join the Miami office, which also recently added Lida Rodriguez-Taseff, a partner in the Litigation practice. He received his J.D. from the University of Miami and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.
