Soumitra "Sam" Deka joins DLA Piper's Intellectual Property and Technology practice in Northern California

DLA Piper announced today that Soumitra "Sam" Deka has joined the firm's Intellectual Property and Technology practice as a partner in Northern California, based in the San Francisco office.

Deka, who will be in the Patent Litigation subgroup of the IPT practice, has experience in a broad range of technologies, from pharmaceuticals to semiconductors, optical networking components, and 3-D display technology. He is also a registered patent attorney and regularly represents clients in inter partes review proceedings.

"Sam is an experienced patent litigator who is well-respected within the pharmaceutical and broader life sciences industries," said Mark Fowler, global co-chair and US chair of the Patent Litigation practice. "As we continue to expand our Life Sciences patent litigation bench for the benefit of clients working in this sector, Sam’s knowledge and experience will provide significant value to our clients."

Deka, who joins from Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP, received his J.D. from Temple University School of Law and his B.S. from Tulane University.
