DLA Piper advises Validity Finance in US$100 million financing round

DLA Piper represented commercial litigation finance company Validity Finance in a recent US$100 million financing round led by TowerBrook Capital Partners.

Since its launch, Validity has committed more than US$125 million in dozens of deals across a range of litigation and arbitration matters and jurisdictions. Validity has funded breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, theft of trade secrets, domestic and international arbitration, judgment/asset enforcements, insurance coverage cases and others.

“This transaction brought together our significant private equity and finance experience,” said Marc Samuel, the DLA Piper partner who led the firm’s deal team. “We were pleased with the opportunity to assist Validity in this financing, as demand for its capital continues to rapidly increase, and we look forward to partnering with Validity again in the future.”

In addition to Samuel (Washington, DC), the DLA Piper team representing Validity included partners Kevin Bettsteller (Los Angeles) and Naftali Weg (Baltimore).

DLA Piper’s Private Equity practice includes more than 100 US lawyers who provide strategic counsel to private equity funds and the industry-leading companies they invest in. In 2019, Pitchbook recognized DLA Piper as the second most active private equity law firm globally, further solidifying the strength of the firm’s team and its depth of experience executing private equity transactions.
