DLA Piper announced today that Tracy Weir has joined the firm’s Litigation and Regulatory practice and Healthcare sector as a partner based in Washington, DC.

Weir provides healthcare regulatory counseling on issues pertaining to Medicare reimbursement and compliance, telehealth and digital health. She also assists clients with payor audits, and she routinely represents clients before the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals in administrative litigation involving denials of Medicare reimbursement.

Weir also counsels clients on data privacy and security matters that arise from federal and state laws. She has substantial experience with HIPAA/HITECH compliance, including analyzing transactions and business relationships, data supplier/sharing arrangements, preparing and negotiating business associate agreements, developing policies and procedures and advising clients on data breaches and notification, as well as handling Office of Civil Rights investigations.

“Tracy is an experienced healthcare regulatory lawyer who will add significant value and complement our existing healthcare capabilities,” said Joshua Kaye, chair of DLA Piper's US Healthcare sector. “Tracy, along with Donna Thiel and Kristi Kung, who also advise on a range of healthcare compliance and regulatory matters, will add considerable strength to a team that is already well positioned to address a full range of complex matters.”

“The addition of Tracy to the firm supports our efforts to maintain a robust healthcare regulatory practice in the Washington, DC and greater mid-Atlantic region,” said James Brogan, US chair and global co-chair of the firm’s Litigation and Regulatory practice. “She is highly respected in the healthcare space and brings a well-rounded, comprehensive practice that is in high demand and will significantly increase our capacity to serve clients.”

Weir joins from Baker Donelson. She received her J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law and her B.A. from Purdue University.
