DLA Piper expands its Corporate Practice with the addition of James Fischer and Alexander Meiseles in Greater New York

DLA Piper is expanding its Corporate practice with the arrival of partners James Fischer and Alexander Meiseles. Fischer will be based in the firm’s Short Hills office, while Meiseles will be based in New York City.

Fischer focuses his practice advising public and private companies in strategic and financial transactions, with extensive experience in corporate venture investments—particularly in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors—and roll-up transactions. Fischer has served as lead on dozens of mergers and acquisitions ranging in size from US$50 million to over US$1.2 billion, in addition to transactions involving corporate restructurings, private securities offerings and divestitures.

Fischer also represents growth and mid-stage clients in emerging and established industries on complex transactions, including intricate transfers of ownership, equity investments and acquisitions, corporate divestitures and joint ventures. He also advises individual and institutional clients on investing in and transacting with corporate incubators supporting foreign and domestic propriety and high-frequency trading firms and related service provider.

Meiseles focuses his corporate practice advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint venture transactions, organization and funding of startups, venture financing, private placement of securities, corporate governance and reorganizations, and general business counseling. He regularly advises both strategic and private equity buyers and sellers in connection with complex transactions, ranging in value from several million dollars to over US$1 billion, across various sectors.

Meiseles has advised startups and their founders in various strategic initiatives, from inception through business development and the founders’ exit.

Fischer joins DLA Piper from Faegre Drinker, where he held various leadership roles. Meiseles also joins from Faegre Drinker where he worked closely with Fischer.
