Dr. Balakrishnan obtained her Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, and Development from the University of Rochester, where she studied how cooperating oncogenes alter metabolic pathways in cancer with a focus on pancreatic and colorectal cancer. As a Senior Patent Agent, Dr. Balakrishnan draws on her expertise in molecular biology to support clients in a multitude of areas in biotechnology, including oncology, immunotherapy, stem cell therapy, antibody technologies, neuroscience, molecular diagnostics, infectious diseases, gene therapy, and RNA biology. In immunotherapy, Dr. Balakrishnan has conducted diligence and portfolio development on chimeric antigen receptors, cytokines, and cell therapy. Dr. Balakrishnan has experience in patent drafting, freedom-to-operate analysis, patent strategy, portfolio management, and domestic and international patent prosecution.
