Sam Bodle is an experienced commercial disputes lawyer, undertaking a broad range of litigation, arbitration, alternative dispute resolution and contentious advisory work. 

Sam has worked on a range of high-profile disputes across a number of sectors including financial services, technology, biotech and energy. His practice is international in nature and includes matters in the US, UK, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and the Netherlands.

EXPERIENCE

  • Representing a US retail giant in its defense of various claims brought by a former supplier.
  • Providing pre-arbitration advice to an international hotel chain in respect of various hotel properties located in Africa and the Middle East.
  • Representing one of the world’s largest ports and logistics providers in a series of international shareholder disputes, including multiple LCIA arbitrations and litigation proceedings in Cyprus, the BVI and in the London High Court. 
  • Successfully defending the world’s largest supplier of natural gas in global enforcement proceedings brought against it in respect of a multi-billion dollar arbitral award.
  • Successfully defending a prominent US biotech company in an LCIA arbitration brought against them by a former sales agent. 
  • Representing one of the world’s largest banks in an ICC arbitration arising out of the 2008 financial crisis and collapse of ABN Amro.
  • Representing a prominent European bank in enforcing a high value, complex foreign freezing order in England. This involved asset tracing and seeking further interim relief from the English High Court.
  • Assisting in the defense of a leading international bank across a series of swaps mis-selling claims.
  • Representing a foreign exchange and commodities trading house in a brokerage account dispute.
  • Part of the team representing an international bank seeking payments due to it under a complex securitization structure.
