About

Sid Burke co-chairs the firm’s New York corporate group and has a varied corporate and securities practice focused on mergers, acquisitions, and other complex business transactions, including SPAC IPOs and business combinations.

He advises investment funds with varied strategies (including private equity, growth equity and venture capital) in structuring, negotiating and executing portfolio company investments and financings, and counsels funds in their formation and internal governance.

He also has represented public companies on an ongoing basis, and he regularly counsels senior management, corporate boards, investment banks and controlling stockholders with respect to mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and joint ventures, corporate governance, fairness opinions, disclosure and securities regulations.

Sid is a member of the firm’s North American Pro Bono Committee and the pro bono committee for the New York office. He previously served as hiring partner and chair of the pro bono committee for DLA Piper's New York office.

Pro Bono

Sid is a member of the firm’s North American Pro Bono Committee and the pro bono committee for the New York office. He previously served as chair of the pro bono committee for DLA Piper's New York office.

His pro bono activities have been focused primarily on educational opportunity. He is a member of the Board of Education for the Pelham Union Free School District, to which he was elected in 2023. In the past, he has provided corporate governance advice to Head Start programs and served as outside general counsel to a non-profit that provides educational and other programs to children and adults living with autism. Sid served as a member of the board of trustees of the Amani Public Charter School (located in Mount Vernon, Amani is the first independent charter school in Westchester County) from its founding in 2010, and served as chair of its board of trustees from 2013 through 2021.
