Micah Chavin represents businesses and individuals in a wide variety of complex litigation involving intellectual property disputes, business and insurance disputes, consumer class action defense, and corporate governance and investigations. His experience encompasses cases in both federal and state court through all phases of trial, arbitration, and/or mediation. Micah also has an active pro bono practice, including drafting a successful appellate brief for the California Court of Appeals that achieved a total victory for his client. 

In particular, Micah has extensive experience in trade secret litigation in California state and federal courts. He also has extensive experience in post-closing disputes, particularly involving earnout or deferred payment clauses, and has litigated such cases in California court and the Delaware Court of Chancery.  

Micah received his J.D. from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif and was Membership Editor of Northwestern Law Review. Upon graduation, Micah clerked for the Honorable Stephen v. Wilson in the Central District of California.

EXPERIENCE

  • Served as second chair at trial in Los Angeles Superior Court representing Defendant-Buyer in earnout dispute, resulting in a favorable post-trial settlement with Plaintiff-Seller.
  • Successfully represented Silicon Valley investor in disposing lawsuit from founder of a technology company through summary judgment a month before trial was set to begin
  • Provided pre-litigation counseling and analysis of key legal and procedural issues to insurance syndicates related to commercial property coverage disputes arising from the global COVID-19 pandemic
  • Successfully defeated class certification on behalf of egg producer against allegations of price gouging following the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Represented Plaintiff-Seller in expedited litigation in Delaware Chancery Court against Defendant-Buyer in earnout dispute, resulting in favorable settlement for client a week before trial
