Alec Christie has over 20 years' experience in information technology (IT) and intellectual property (IP), and has a diverse cross-border Asia-Pacific practice with an emphasis on commercial information technology and intellectual property matters.

As well as complex IT and commercial IP matters, Alec advises on privacy/data protection and general commercial and contractual documentation for projects throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Alec advises life sciences companies (in particular medical device and pharmaceutical companies) on R&D, joint ventures, commercialisation, IP protection, regulatory and day-to-day commercial matters and issues, and has provided innovative and industry-leading solutions to protect IP in medical devices and prevent re-use of single use devices.

He advises clients on strategies for capturing and protecting intellectual property generated within their organisation (and groups of companies), commercialisation of IP, research and development programs, joint technology developments, training agreements and IP holding structures and strategies.

Alec also focuses on providing practical advice and solutions on IT to a range of industries and clients (both public and private) including procurement, open source use and licensing, cloud computing, e-commerce, privacy/data protection, SPAM/electronic marketing plus use and abuse of Web 2.0 (social media for business and marketing purposes). 

He advises across diverse industry sectors including the IT, life sciences (pharmaceuticals and medical devices), professional services and financial services sectors and to both private and government entities and acts for both suppliers/vendors and customers.

He is the leader of the Intellectual Property and Technology Life Sciences sub-group.
