Karla Cure focuses her practice in the area of US international trade with a focus on customs laws and import relief actions.

Karla has particular experience in US Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification, non-preferential country of origin determinations, preferential duty treatment under various free trade agreements and programs, customs valuation and related matters. She also has experience in regulatory procedures relating to import issues before US Customs and Border Protection.

In the trade remedies area, Karla has experience in antidumping and countervailing duty investigations before the Department of Commerce, the US International Trade Commission and the Enforce and Protect Act investigations before US Customs and Border Protection.

Before joining DLA Piper, Karla practiced at a boutique law firm in Washington D.C., focusing on trade relief actions and customs matters. In addition, Karla practiced law in Colombia, where she assisted Colombian and foreign companies in ensuring compliance with Colombian customs laws, including country of origin issues, customs valuation, free trade zones, among other matters. Karla also represented numerous clients in trade reliefs investigations before the Colombian authority.
