Errol Halperin is co-chair of DLA Piper's Real Estate Capital Markets group and a member of the Global Audit and Financial Committee.

Errol has been advising major clients in general business and the manufacturing industry as well as in the real estate industry and in the real estate investment trust industry for a number of years.

Errol's practice is concentrated in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, international transactions, real estate law and federal income tax law. He has also counseled public and private boards of directors, independent directors of public companies and audit and compensation committees of such boards. Errol is active in structuring mergers and acquisitions, and complex real estate transactions by private and publicly held companies including real estate investment trusts, and structuring and negotiating international joint ventures and investment transactions. Many of these transactions involved New York Stock Exchange companies. He has also been involved in forming and structuring real estate investment funds including international real estate funds investing in US real estate and in Europe and Central Europe.

Errol is currently a director of Elkay Manufacturing Company, one of Chicago's largest privately held corporations and Pangea Properties.

Prior Experience

Before joining DLA Piper, he was legislation counsel of the Joint Committee on Taxation of the United States Congress and assistant branch chief of the Legislation and Regulations Division of the Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service. From 1993 to 2002, he served as a trustee of Equity Residential Properties Trust, one of the largest publicly held REITs in the United States.
