Grant is partner equivalent in the Energy & Infrastructure and Projects group at DLA Piper and a member of the DLA Piper Africa Executive. He has over 24 years of experience in transactional and regulatory work in the energy and natural resources sectors in sub-Saharan Africa.

Grant has developed in-depth knowledge of the African environment having worked on matters in over 25 Africa countries. He has extensive experience and has advised clients in the drafting and negotiation of earn-in agreements, unincorporated and incorporated joint ventures, royalties, net profit agreements, concession contracts, joint venture agreements, joint operating agreements, supply distribution, storage/hosting and off-take agreements, commodity sales and transportation contracts.

Grant has had experience of both private and public sector transactions across a range of industries and sectors. He worked as an adviser to the Zambia Privatisation Agency and also as Head of Legal in Africa to one of the world’s largest integrated global energy companies with significant Africa presence. He has a deep knowledge and experience in the mid and downstream energy and extractive industry sectors.

As a senior member of the DLA Piper Africa group Grant has been responsible for leading the development of the firm's strategy in Africa, implementing and managing the role out of the strategy. Grant was instrumental in establishing DLA Piper’s relationships with many of the members of DLA Piper Africa.

He is based between Zambia and South Africa.
