Sara Hernandez brings years of experience as a public policy advocate through her work as an educator, non-profit leader and public servant in city government. Before entering private practice, Sara's career focused on advocating for local policies that improve public education, develop public infrastructure, promote economic development and provide access and opportunities to under-resourced communities.

As Special Counsel for a Los Angeles City Councilmember, Sara led revitalization efforts, economic development initiatives, work around transportation alternatives and the development of public infrastructure and public/private partnerships.

At DLA Piper, Sara has worked on a number of Southern California's most significant multi-family, commercial and transit-oriented development projects. Her experience includes work to obtain land use entitlements in connection with complex real estate development and zoning law. Sara also works regularly with organized labor, community and business leaders in connection with many of these projects and issues.
