Jason Kort is an experienced trial lawyer who defends companies in complex litigation including mass torts, product liability, premises liability, and commercial disputes. He has successfully represented large corporations in high-stakes trials through verdict, dispositive motion practice, and favorable resolution in state and federal courts throughout the country.

Jason is also adept in helping clients navigate high pressure situations, including condensed trial schedules. He leverages his experience handling matters in an efficient manner to provide clients with a pragmatic approach to the nuances of a fast trial schedule.

Jason previously served as an extern to the Honorable George H. Wu of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He has also been consistently recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star since 2018 given his extensive litigation experience.

Jason is involved in a number of legal and community organizations including Defense Research Institute, San Francisco County Bar Association, and he is a board member for the Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom (BALIF) Foundation.

EXPERIENCE

  • Second-chair trial lawyer defending leading European tourist company in a breach of software license case involving disputes to discovery rule and continuous accrual exceptions to statute of limitations defense. Resulted in a mixed verdict of over $1 million, significantly reduced from the original in excess of $30 million demanded.
  • Successfully prevailed on Daubert Motion in the Northern District of California, gutting plaintiff’s economic damages model by over $15,000,000.
  • Won jury trial in Santa Monica, California defending a board-certified gynecologist in a medical malpractice action.
  • Successfully represented asylum applicants from El Salvador on a pro bono basis, which resulted in a grant of asylum for a father and his minor son against government opposition.
