• Representing the Government of Timor-Leste in its dispute with Australia before the International Court of Justice ("ICJ") concerning the seizure of documents, data and correspondence between Timor-Leste and its legal advisers.
  • Securing urgent Provisional Measures Orders from the ICJ requiring Australia to keep the seized material under seal, to ensure that it is not used to the disadvantage of Timor-Leste and not to interfere in any way in communications between Timor-Leste and its legal advisers in connection with the pending treaty arbitration or any future bilateral negotiations concerning maritime delimitation.
  • Securing an adjournment of the ICJ proceedings to enable the States to seek an amicable settlement of the underlying issues between them concerning delimitation of permanent maritime boundaries and advising on all related issues.
  • Conducting the first ever inter-state Compulsory Conciliation under the LIN Convention on the Law of the Sea, concerning the delimitation of permanent maritime boundaries between Timor-Leste and Australia.
  • Representing the Government of the Republic of Zambia in the Country's successful flagship anti-corruption proceedings against its former President and 19 other defendants before the English High Court and Court of Appeal. The four month trial of this ground breaking and politically sensitive case took place in London and Lusaka, with a simultaneous video link between the two court rooms.
  • Her successful defence of a US $55 million vulture fund claim against the Republic of Zambia led to the setting up of a Commission of Enquiry by the US Congress and the enactment of legislation in England, to prevent vulture funds from purchasing deeply distressed sovereign debt and enforcing it at face value in the English courts.
  • The Legal Business Dispute Resolution Team of the Year award was presented to Janet in recognition of her ground breaking work for the Republic of Zambia, which also included the successful defence of a US $160 million ICC arbitration claim.
  • At the invitation of the Paris Club, the Commonwealth Institute and World Bank, respectively, Janet has lectured on Sovereign debt issues to politicians, Finance Ministers and judicial offers of many heavily indebted countries at seminars in Europe, Africa and America.
