Jason Taylor Lueddeke focuses his practice on complex commercial and intellectual property litigation, representing clients in entertainment and media, sports, hospitality, and technology. 

In both state and federal courts, Jason has represented a broad range of industry-leading companies and high-profile individuals, including major motion picture studios, film and commercial production companies, record labels, global media companies, Academy Award-nominated actors and directors, Grammy Award-winning and nominated songwriters and record producers, world champion athletes, international pop stars, C-suite executives and restauranteurs, talent managers, and internet and media streaming services.

With extensive experience in all stages of litigation from pre-filing through trial and appeal, Jason counsels clients in matters related to intellectual property enforcement and defense, defamation and privacy, unfair competition, business torts, and high-stakes commercial disputes.

EXPERIENCE

  • Represented, as lead counsel, co-founder of global entertainment company in Delaware books and records lawsuit and prevailed at trial, which allowed client to obtain critical documents that led to favorable settlement 
  • Represented fitness pioneer in novel copyright lawsuit against a former employee regarding the protectability of dance cardio sequences 
  • Represented California restauranteur in partnership arbitration related to ownership and operation of multimillion dollar restaurant business
  • Defended eight-time Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer in (i) two lawsuits related to the ownership of iconic Hollywood recording studio and associated trademarks, and (ii) a lawsuit related to a third-party’s claim to a portion of the proceeds from the multimillion-dollar sale of client’s publishing catalog  
  • Represented, as lead counsel, global media and entertainment company in arbitration against French toy company related to multimillion dollar toy merchandising rights for film
  • Defended international pop star in highly publicized defamation lawsuit related to producer’s misconduct under recording, production, and publishing contracts
  • Defended major film production company in (i) $50M lawsuit by private equity company that client breached agreements related to its acquisition of The Weinstein Company’s film library in bankruptcy; and (ii) $100M lawsuit by broker that client owed finder’s fee in connection with acquisition  
  • Represented high-profile wine collector in multiple lawsuits alleging RICO violations, consumer protection law violations, and fraud related to counterfeit wine in New York, California, and Florida state and federal courts
  • Defended major motion picture studio, director, and Academy Award-nominated actor in lawsuit alleging trademark infringement, unfair competition, and Lanham Act violations related to blockbuster film
  • Defended C-Level executives of Fortune 500 gaming, hospitality, and entertainment corporation in shareholder class action alleging securities law violations related to construction of Las Vegas hotels and casinos
  • Defended WBA world-champion boxer in lawsuit alleging breach of contract and extortion related to historic boxing match
