William Marshall’s practice focuses on the energy sector. His clients include project developers, funders, sellers, and purchasers of energy assets. He also advises energy traders, suppliers and large consumers and he has a focus on regulation, grid, offtake and power trading arrangements including the SEM and both conventional PPAs and corporate PPAs.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advised on numerous energy related M&A transactions including the recent sale of a portfolio of renewable energy assets of almost 400MW together with a development platform and trading business.*
  • Advised on project finance transactions for various wind farms including RESS 1 participants.*
  • Advised various generators and offtakers on power purchase agreements including supported, merchant, and corporate PPAs.*
  • Advised an international client on the acquisition and project financing of an Irish wind farm (which benefits from a corporate PPA) and subsequently on co-location arrangements for the addition of battery storage assets at the site.*
  • Advised the owner of a wind farm on arrangements for the development of a solar farm on an adjacent site.*
  • Advised various parties on grid connection including contestability arrangements.*
  • Advised on the development and negotiation of battery optimisation PPAs for use in the Irish market.*
  • Advising on ancillary services including DS3 participation and related services agreements.*
