Alex Pinson represents clients on a variety of healthcare, life sciences, and appropriations matters before Congress and federal agencies.

From 2019 to 2021, Alex served as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Relations at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). There, he led departmental engagement with 84 bipartisan, bicameral congressional Appropriators and helped to secure over $330 billion in emergency support for HHS COVID response efforts. He also advised HHS leadership on congressional engagement strategy for a broad range of landmark initiatives, including unprecedented regulatory transparency, transforming kidney health, and working to eliminate HIV/AIDS.

Previously, Alex served as a senior aide to former House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers (R-KY), where he focused largely on healthcare policy. Alex worked diligently to build bipartisan consensus as the lead staffer for the Congressional Caucus on Prescription Drug Abuse, leveraging those relationships to co-author the Substance Use Disorder Workforce Loan Repayment Act of 2018. This legislation was then enacted as part of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act of 2018.
