Gail has an extensive pro bono practice focused on human rights issues. For over a decade she has represented numerous asylum seekers at the administrative, trial court and appellate level. She currently supervises multiple teams of associates in asylum representation and acts as a resource for asylum cases around the firm. 

In 2007, the New York State Bar Association honored Gail with the President's Pro Bono Service Award in the Young Lawyers category. Also in 2007, DLA Piper honored Gail with the firm wide Senior Associate award for pro bono contribution. In 2011, Human Rights First honored the firm's commitment to asylum representation. The firm has awarded Gail a variety of other awards for her pro bono practice. In 2013, Gail taught legal writing skills at the Dar es Salaam Law School in Tanzania. Since 2007 she has annually been designated Empire State Counsel for her pro bono contributions.
