Maria Rydder Schwartz focuses her corporate practice in the area of emerging companies and venture capital, and she has experience advising companies on various legal and financial issues.

For emerging companies, Maria assists startups and private companies at all stages of their corporate life cycle. She regularly prepares formation paperwork, conducts diligence and corporate audits, facilitates equity and debt financings, and contemplates and leads coordination on exit plans, including mergers and acquisitions. Further, she acts as outside general counsel to her clients, offering guidance and advice on general corporate matters.

She supports venture capitals by facilitating every step of the investment process - negotiating term sheets, evaluating rights commensurate with value of investments and partnerships, reviewing diligence reports to raise potential red flags, and following up on any post-closing matters as needed. In addition, Maria works alongside her international colleagues in deals that involve international entities, particularly in Europe, to ensure a clean and controlled corporate governance across the target group.

Maria is involved in a broad range of industries, including technology (SaaS and fintech), consumer, food and beverage, energy and entertainment. She has a passion for assisting female founders.
