Tomasita Sherer is an experienced litigator in state and federal courts and a member of the Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations practice group. She currently focuses her practice on dispute resolution and providing advice and counsel to multinational companies, including insurance and financial institutions.

Tomasita has a decade of experience working in-house at MetLife as corporate counsel, where she handled a wide variety of matters involving sales practices, contracts, claims, fraud and regulatory issues. She oversaw nationwide litigation and arbitrations as well as multiple responses to regulatory authority inquiries. She also has significant appellate practice experience, successfully representing MetLife, briefing and arguing before several Federal District and Circuit Courts of Appeal. 

Prior to MetLife, Tomasita’s private practice focused on complex civil litigation primarily involving product liability, class action and intellectual property matters where she represented clients in various industries including media and entertainment, pharmaceutical and energy. She has notable dispute resolution success including managing and settling hundreds of individual cases in large litigations.

In addition to her law practice, Tomasita is a leader in diversity initiatives focusing on pro bono and pipeline programs. She was the founding co-chair of MetLife’s legal affairs pro bono program and co-chair of MetLife’s pipeline programs committee.

Tomasita is a member of DLA Piper’s North American Pro Bono Committee and a member of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
