Tomasita Sherer is an experienced litigator in state and federal courts and a member of the Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations practice group. She currently focuses her practice on commercial dispute resolution involving business torts, contracts and employment issues, representing companies in a broad range of industries including media and entertainment, healthcare and insurance.

Before joining DLA Piper, Tomasita had a decade of experience working in-house at MetLife as corporate counsel, where she handled a wide variety of litigation and regulatory matters involving life, health and disability products and matters pertaining to sales practices, privacy, contracts, trusts and estates, claims, ERISA and fraud. She oversaw nationwide litigation and arbitrations, conducted regulatory and internal investigations and represented senior company executives before numerous courts and tribunals, as well as before the SEC, FINRA and state insurance departments. She also has significant appellate practice experience, successfully representing MetLife, briefing and arguing before several Federal District and Circuit Courts of Appeal.

Prior to MetLife, Tomasita's private practice focused on complex civil litigation involving employment, bankruptcy, product liability and intellectual property matters where she represented clients in a broad-range of industries including publishing, fashion, pharmaceuticals, transportation and energy.

In addition to her law practice, Tomasita is a leader in diversity initiatives focusing on pro bono and pipeline programs. She was the founding co-chair of MetLife's legal affairs pro bono program and co-chair of MetLife's pipeline programs committee.

Tomasita is a member of DLA Piper's North American Pro Bono Committee and a member of the firm's Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
