Richard Taylor is one of the UK’s leading commercial and intellectual property (IP) lawyers, with a particular focus on advice and transactions in the life science sector.

For over 25 years Richard has advised multinationals, SMEs and public bodies on IP-heavy deals and disputes. Richard’s clients benefit from the range and depth of Richard’s experience across IP, regulation, competition, data, software, supply-chain, pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

In 2021 Richard lead a team that was shortlisted for ‘Life Science Team of the Year’, supporting Unilever in its global response to the Covid pandemic across 40+ jurisdictions (British Legal Awards 2021).

Richard is a well-known speaker and writer on IP, commercial and life science law and a visiting lecturer at the Universities of Sheffield and Edinburgh.

EXPERIENCE

Richard has negotiated deals at the highest level in Manufacturing, Supply and Distribution, R&D, Joint Ventures, IP licensing, arrangements with CMOs and CROs, grant funding and procurement. Highly experienced in these areas in the life science sector, Richard also advises on market entry, Clinical Trials, and HCP marketing.

His disputes work includes contract terms, patents, designs, copyright, know-how and trade secrets. In 2021 Richard successfully resolved a dispute worth GBP200m+ around royalties under a patent licence.
