Alex Wortman is a member of DLA Piper’s market-leading Data Protection, Privacy and Security practice, helping clients craft global privacy compliance strategies and data security solutions.

Alex Wortman advises clients on a broad range of data risk, privacy, and cybersecurity matters. Alex regularly helps clients design and implement strategies across disciplines to address state, federal, and international laws relating to cybersecurity, privacy, and information technology.

He has published several papers on cybersecurity focused on a variety of topics such as cyber risks to financial stability, concentration risk of cloud computing, and strengthening authentication processes around social security numbers.

Alex works across multiple industry sectors including technology, life sciences, energy & utilities, and financial services.

Prior Experience

Before joining DLA Piper, Alex worked for KPMG LLP and advised clients on cybersecurity risks, policy development, and IT program management. In this role Alex routinely assessed, implemented, and managed developments across different parts of various cybersecurity programs, focusing on compliance requirements and reducing overall risks to the organizations.

Prior to joining KPMG LLP, Alex worked in journalism as a producer for NHK – the largest broadcaster in Japan – covering national security and the Pentagon.
