Bárbara Córdoba

Bárbara Córdoba is a Counsel in the Litigation and Regulatory practice at DLA Piper Spain. Having served as a specialist Commercial Judge for more than 20 years, she brings unparalleled insight into complex restructuring, insolvency and high-value commercial disputes, combining deep legal expertise with a strong understanding of business dynamics and judicial decision-making processes.

During her judicial career, Bárbara has made significant contributions across a wide range of areas, including restructuring and insolvency, corporate governance, directors’ liability, financial litigation, intellectual property, unfair competition and transport law, issuing a number of landmark decisions that have shaped market practice. She handled over 200 insolvency proceedings per year and was responsible for the homologation of some of Spain’s most innovative restructuring plans.

Bárbara has also played a pivotal role in the modernisation of the Spanish commercial courts, actively participating in working groups of the Spanish Judiciary (CGPJ), drafting protocols and best practice guidelines, and leading pilot projects aimed at enhancing efficiency, legal certainty and procedural harmonisation.

She is a frequent speaker at academic and professional institutions, a lecturer on postgraduate programmes and the author of numerous publications in leading legal journals. Barbara has also helped train future specialist judges, achieving an exceptional success rate.
