The future of AI testing - Insights from the White House Executive Order on AI

Thursday, November 30, 2023

Read the summary article, "How the mandate for federal agencies to test AI systems may impact wider AI model testing requirements."

DLA Piper hosted a timely webinar discussing the newly issued White House Executive Order (EO) on Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI). This extensive directive prioritizes the testing of AI models and systems as a cornerstone of the Executive Branch’s AI policy. Our webinar discussed this mandate, detailing overarching principles and goals for the responsible and equitable development and use of AI.

Consumer advocates, regulators, and the public want assurances that AI systems are not discriminatory. Speakers from DLA Piper, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) provided a comprehensive overview of the ways in which the EO addresses these concerns, particularly focusing on testing and evaluations crucial to ensuring that AI systems function as intended, they are resilient against misuse or dangerous modifications, and they are ethically developed in a secure manner.
