Three DLA Piper lawyers recognised in African M&A Private Practice Powerlist 2024

Three lawyers from DLA Piper, Johannes Gouws, Christophe Bachelet and Peter Bradshaw have been named in the Legal500 Private Practice Powerlist 2024 for M&A in Africa.

The Legal 500 M&A Powerlist is a prestigious guide that identifies Africa’s top legal professionals. The list is collated by drawing on research conducted by the Legal500, as well as approaching leading M&A practitioners and general counsel active in the market. With Africa continuing to carve its own place in the global economy, M&A activities across the continent continue to undergo significant and impressive development.

Johannes Gouws, Country Managing Partner, DLA Piper South Africa, has over 25 years of experience in helping clients with cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions, securities regulation, corporate finance, corporate law, and the resolution of financial institutions. He has advised on many large corporate transactions in South Africa.

Christophe Bachelet, Country Managing Partner, DLA Piper Morocco, has over 25 years’ experience of helping a wide range of clients in Morocco and North Africa with cross-border M&A, private equity, corporate structuring and capital market transactions. He focuses particularly on the education, healthcare, agri-business, real estate, energy, and industrial sectors.

Peter Bradshaw, Partner and Head of Corporate, DLA Piper South Africa, advises local and multinational clients on public and private M&A and equity capital markets transactions in South Africa and across the continent. His practice covers a range of sectors, with recent deals completed in the financial services, hospitality, retail, food and beverages, and property sectors.

Seven lawyers from across the DLA Piper Africa network in Algeria, Burundi, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, and Zambia were also included in the list.
