Pro Bono

As a Krantz Fellow working exclusively on pro bono matters throughout her first year with DLA Piper, Amanda focused her practice primarily on humanitarian immigration matters. She managed drafting, editing, investigating the factual background of and gathering documentation to support filings for affirmative and defensive asylum cases, prepared clients for testimony in affirmative and defensive asylum hearings, served as the first chair and sole attorney representative at one affirmative asylum hearing, advised on strategic considerations related to Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and I-130 family reunification, investigated the factual background of a Violence Against Women Act self-petition, and through New Perimeter, worked on two different multinational teams supporting multijurisdictional legal research on behalf of UNHCR to advance the work of international institutions working to ensure stronger protections for communities displaced by conflict and by environmental degradation related to climate change.

Amanda has also engaged in New Perimeter’s work by twice supporting DLA’s representation of Georgia at the Conference of the Parties to the Paris Agreement, advising a nonprofit organization on advocacy on behalf of small and medium enterprises within the context of the Business and Human Rights Forum, advising a negotiating team in a sub-Saharan African state on various matters related to transitional justice, and advising a GANHRI-accredited sub-Saharan African National Human Rights Institution on strategy in implementing its mandate in a post-conflict situation.
