Edward Griffiths has experience in private equity, international M&A, and group reorganisations. He has particular experience of advising on complex transactions across multiple jurisdictions.

Edward acts for institutional investors, corporates, and management teams in the UK and internationally and has represented a wide range of clients on deals across different industry sectors including technology, manufacturing, financial services, leisure, and publishing.

  • Advised the management of Helly Hansen on its disposal for CAN$ 985 million to Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC)
  • Advised Apax Partners, Scottish Equitable Partners and others on sale of Tideway Systems (historically one of Britain's fastest-growing private tech companies) to BMC Software
  • Advised Blackstone on sale of Nido, the UK's largest student accommodation businesses
  • Advised Caird Capital on its sale of Vue Cinemas
  • Advised European Capital on its acquisitions of Avery Weigh Tronix (a weighing solutions manufacturer) and Miles 33 Group (a practice management systems provider)
  • Advised TA Associates, Dr Peter Lammer, Dr Jan Hruska and others on the $830m sale of Sophos plc to Apax Partners
  • Advised management team of Yo Sushi on refinancings and secondary MBO involving Quilvest
  • Advised Discovery Communications on its purchase of Antenna Audio (a global leader in content and IT provision for audio and multimedia tours to museums, exhibitions, historic sites) from private equity sellers and its subsequent sale to The Wicks Group
  • Advised Hutchison Whampoa on the acquisition of Urband (the owner of a national fibre optic network in the UK) from two former nationalised utilities and its subsequent disposal to Alchemy
  • Advised John Wiley & Sons on its acquisition, by way of a scheme of arrangement, of Blackwell Publishing (a publisher of academic journals, books and online content)
