DLA Piper Canada welcomes Gunars Gaikis
DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to welcome Gunars Gaikis to our Toronto office as senior counsel in our Intellectual Property and Technology group. Gunars is one of Canada's most experienced life sciences intellectual property litigators, with more than 30 years working in the highly technical field of pharmaceutical patent, trademark and related litigation.
Gunars has acted for many of the world's largest multinational innovative pharmaceutical companies, appearing as lead counsel in numerous intellectual property cases before the Ontario and Federal Courts, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. Among his many notable appearances, Gunars was lead counsel on the team that successfully represented AstraZeneca in a landmark pharma patent case before the Supreme Court of Canada. For his outstanding work in the area of patent litigation, Gunars has been recognized by leading ranking guides Chambers Canada, Chambers Global, Lexpert, WIPR, LMG Life Sciences, Managing IP and IAM Patent, among others, who have described him as “one of the best patent litigators since the industry began."
