His work now spans Europe, South-East Asia, Africa, the US, and the Middle East, driven by technologies like offshore wind. Dual-qualified in South Africa and England & Wales, Melusi is admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising a commercial aviation leasing company on the procurement, construction and financing of a sustainable aviation fuel facility to be located in the United Kingdom.*
  • Advising a copper mining company on the procurement and development of two separate solar PV and BESS developments to provide power to its mining operations in the DRC. Led the early works procurement and the subsequent construction and O&M aspects.*
  • Advising a leading oil company in relation to their consolidation of their global offshore wind assets and pipeline with that of Jera Nex.*
  • Acting for the sponsors in relation to the project documentation and construction agreements relating to the Moray West offshore wind project in Scotland.*
  • Advising a consortium of 17 lenders in relation to the construction and project due diligence aspects of the Inch Cape offshore wind project in Scotland (targeted FC Q1 2025).*
  • Acting for a consortium of oil and gas companies in relation to the negotiation of a turbine supply capacity reservation agreement for the proposed development of an offshore wind farm project in Tokyo.*
  • Advising an investment manager in relation to its development of a decommissioned power plant site for the purpose of two large BESS Projects, including advising on the existing connection agreement with NGESO and the potential for grid sharing as well as structuring of joint Project development.*
  • Advising a client in relation to the drafting and negotiation of specific key contracts including the BESS supply contract with CATL, civils contract with Jones Bros. and transformer supply contract with Wilson Power.*
  • Advising an energy company in relation to general procurement, drafting and negotiation of various construction, supply contracts and service agreements to be utilised in the development of their three Norfolk Vanguard offshore wind projects in the UK. Also providing strategic advise in relation to O&M strategy and utilisation of synergies across the three assets.*
  • Acting for a power company in connection with the project development and multi-contracting construction aspects related to the Baltica II and Baltica III offshore wind projects in Poland.
  • Advising an infrastructure investor on the project development and bond financing of the University of Sussex West Slopes student accommodation project.*
  • Advising a financial guarantee insurer on all construction, O&M aspects of the three phase student accommodation development at the University of Essex, the refurbishment and construction of the Kingston University student accommodation projects.*
  • Acting for a leading energy company (in its role as building contractor and FM services provider) on the project document and construction related aspects of the University of Birmingham student accommodation project.*
