Making Business Better with Offshore Wind Australia
Helping the Australian renewable energy sector innovate in an evolving environmentAccelerating the energy transition will require businesses to continue to innovate, evolve and adapt to build a better future.
Offshore Wind Australia (OWA) was established as a forum for supporting and enabling the development of a successful offshore wind industry in Australia.
The Australian Offshore Wind industry is in its formative stages relative to global leaders across Europe and Asia such as the UK, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Taiwan and China – however, momentum is continuing to build and offshore wind power in Australia has the potential to be a key component of the renewable energy generation mix nationally and across Asia Pacific in the coming decades.
OWA seeks to create an extensive Australian and international network from existing and related industries which can shape Australia’s energy future and create opportunities reaching into the existing and developing offshore wind industries globally.
DLA Piper is proud to support OWA and was a key sponsor of the Offshore Wind Australia Conference on 20-21 November 2024.
"Offshore wind is very promising in Australia," said Andy Evans, Founder of Oceanex.
"We're looking at 12 projects already given the rights to progress further off the coast of Victoria, and a few more in other states as well," he added.
Emily Scivetti, former CEO of Oceanex and Managing Director at InfraFuture added: "The conversation has moved from an excitement and planning phase and we're starting to talk about what we really need to get going, including what we're needing at ports, at state government and from regional communities to develop major infrastructure projects."

DLA Piper is supporting a range of industry leaders and stakeholders driving the transition to renewable power. We are the leading global law firm in renewable energy, advising on more renewable energy deals than any other (Inspiratia, 2021 and YTD 2022).
Our experience covers development, construction, financing, M&A, sales, and investing in a diverse range of renewables and related projects.
