Drawing from his extensive experience in national government affairs prior to private practice, Darren provides clients access to a sophisticated network of relationships across Washington D.C. and state capitals nationwide. Prior to joining DLA Piper, Darren served as Senior Vice President & Chief Government Affairs Officer at one of South Florida’s largest publicly traded companies, where he built a federal and state Government Affairs department that generated significant value to the organization through strategic advocacy and regulatory positioning.

Current Knowledge and Involvement
Darren has been actively involved in analyzing and advising clients on the landmark One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed into law on July 4, 2025, particularly its impact on healthcare, private equity, financial services, and other regulated industries. His expertise extends to artificial intelligence regulatory frameworks at both state and federal levels, helping companies navigate the rapidly evolving AI compliance landscape.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Darren worked in various legal and executive roles for South Florida's largest healthcare company, a publicly traded national medical group. He ended his career at the national medical group as Senior Vice President and Chief Government Affairs Officer. He started his legal career as an attorney in the healthcare department with an AmLaw 100 international law firm.
