Emma Stockman has been a lawyer at DLA Piper since 2020, providing advice and assistance in both contentious and non contentious matters within the fields of intellectual property, advertising and media law, and commercial law. Prior to joining DLA Piper, she obtained her first Master of Laws at KU Leuven and an LL.M in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London. Emma also completed a legal internship in the IP department of a renowned fashion house in London.
Emma has extensive experience advising companies active in the creative industries, luxury goods, the FMCG sector and the technology sector, at both national and EU level. She advises clients not only on the prevention of complaints, proceedings and commercial and IP disputes, but also represents them in commercial and IP litigation and assists with the drafting, review and negotiation of contracts and terms and conditions, with a particular focus on licensing, film & TV production, distribution, franchising, B2B legislation, consumer protection and intellectual property.
In addition, Emma is highly experienced in providing thorough advice on the legal framework applicable to audiovisual media services, video sharing platform services and online marketplaces, including influencer marketing, protection of minors, product placement, co productions, copyright, financial contributions, price reductions and promotional practices. In light of the current legal and market landscape, her advice also naturally encompasses AI and other technology related aspects, which are increasingly and inherently connected to these areas of law.
