The article considers the salient features of this new generation of investment instruments, which focus on sustainable economic development, as well as the multiplication of African dispute resolution forums. Finally, it concludes by reviewing the current status of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement, as well as a recent declaration by the African Union regarding ISDS in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
