Correna Jones and Michael Richards named Co-chairs of Canadian Employment group
DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to announce that Correna Jones and Michael Richards have been named Co-chairs of our Canadian Employment group.
Correna advises a broad range of clients with employment law matters, including complex workplace issues, policies, practices and documentation to enable the successful operation of their businesses. One of three Canadian representatives on the firm’s America’s committee, Correna plays an instrumental role in leading and engaging with colleagues in the US and Latin America. Correna is also active in the legal profession and is a member of the Labour and Employment Law Subsection and Immigration Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association. She has spoken at numerous legal events on labor and employment law and has taught a labor law course at the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law since 2020.
With more than 20 years of experience in employment law, Michael provides advice to both national and international organizations and has represented clients at various levels of courts in Ontario and British Columbia, before administrative tribunals, at arbitrations, in mediation and at other negotiations, including collective bargaining. From 2016 to 2021, Michael served as DLA Piper’s managing partner of the Toronto office, playing a significant role in the growth of the office while maintaining his legal practice. Michael has also served as chair of the Student Committee in Toronto, co-chaired the firm’s National Employment and Labour Law Conference in Toronto and regularly speaks at the firm’s professional development seminars.
