DLA Piper continues to grow its Investment Funds Practice with Partner David Kreisler in Boston

DLA Piper is pleased to welcome David Kreisler as a partner in the firm’s Investment Funds Practice. He will be based in the firm’s Boston office.

“David is an exceptional attorney and a recognized leader in the investment funds space,” said Jesse Criz, US co-chair of the Investment Funds Practice. “His experience representing a number of the world’s most prominent fund sponsors will be a tremendous asset as we continue to strategically build and grow our investment fund practice and deliver sophisticated, best-in-class service to our clients across the investment funds industry.”

Kreisler represents private funds sponsors globally in all aspects of their business. He regularly counsels both large well-known sponsors and emerging managers focused on the PE buyout, energy, growth equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate and secondary funds sectors. He also provides strategic counsel to fund managers and institutional investors throughout the life cycle of a private fund and has advised clients on a broad range of secondary fund transactions, including restructurings, continuation funds and other GP-led transactions. Recognized by Chambers, Kreisler is an elite practitioner with more than thirty years of experience in the investment funds industry, advising clients on billions of dollars of fund formations.

“David is an incredibly strong addition to a burgeoning group, and his work in the private funds space is well-known in the industry. We look forward to welcoming him to the firm and introducing him to our clients,” said Bryan Connolly, managing partner of DLA Piper’s Boston office.

Kreisler’s arrival precedes that of Venera Ziegler, who is officially joining the firm’s New York office in early May. Ziegler advises sponsors in connection with the structuring, forming, closure, restructuring and regulatory compliance of private equity funds, funds of funds, hedge funds and hybrid funds. In addition, Ziegler has a robust practice advising institutional investors in investing in prominent private investment funds.

Earlier this year, the firm announced the establishment of a standalone Investment Funds group, a strategic consolidation of its Investment Management and Institutional Investor practices. The additions of Kreisler and Ziegler reflect ongoing examples of the execution of the strategic vision of the new Investment Funds group and demonstrate the firm’s commitment to this space. Since the second half of 2023, the practice has made notable hires. In addition to Kreisler and Ziegler, partners Andrew Kreisberg (San Diego), Mara Topping, Kate McCullough, Evan Zhao and David Solander (all in Washington, DC) and Terry Davis (Atlanta) have all joined the practice.

DLA Piper is a global leader in the investment funds space, providing dynamic, integrated service to sponsors, fund managers and institutional investors, supported by more than 125 dedicated practice attorneys, as well as the firm’s extensive international tax and regulatory networks.
