DLA Piper adds Partner Mike Biles, expanding securities litigation and enforcement capabilities

DLA Piper has added Mike Biles as a Partner in its Corporate and Securities Litigation practice, enhancing the firm’s capabilities in corporate governance disputes, securities litigation, and regulatory enforcement. He will be based in the firm’s Austin office.

Biles counsels public companies, officers, directors, and securities underwriters in class actions and derivative litigation. He represents companies in disputes arising out of significant corporate transactions, including fiduciary matters in mergers and acquisitions, and advises officers and directors in bankruptcy adversary proceedings involving alleged breaches of fiduciary duty and fraudulent transfer claims.

His practice also includes guiding companies and corporate insiders in investigations and enforcement actions brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulators. He provides end-to-end representation through trial and appeal, working with clients across the technology, energy, healthcare, financial services, and fintech sectors in federal and state courts. This includes multijurisdictional disputes in Texas, New York, and California.

“Mike brings a rare combination of securities litigation, regulatory enforcement, and trial experience that directly benefits clients navigating today’s most complex governance and disclosure disputes,” said Melanie Walker, Chair of the firm’s Corporate and Securities Litigation practice.
