Anti-COVID devices: a comparison between the UK and Italy

This webinar, hosted by DLA Piper on 29 September 2020, examined the product and advertising regulations related to anti-coronavirus devices, and what it means for those seeking to ensure their brand’s marketing campaigns are compliant around the world.

The global pandemic has resulted in a proliferation of various types of anti-COVID products, from hand sanitiser and antibody tests to the now ubiquitous (and in most countries mandatory) face covering. There has been an associated global trend towards greater advertising based around COVID-19, with brands increasingly referring to the pandemic and making claims both legitimate and illegitimate about their product credentials in this area. As a result, regulators have applied increased scrutiny around the manufacture and marketing of these products. This webinar examines the trend, and what it means for those seeking to ensure their brand’s products and marketing campaigns are compliant with a focus on Europe.

The webinar (find access to the recording below) offers an international perspective by analysing the following topics:

  • product regulation of anti-COVID devices in Europe;
  • advertising regulation and regulators’ approach in two key jurisdictions, Italy and the UK.
